change to some rhythm playing and then it’s the solo.

switched off for the main body of the solo and gradually builds up
into the end section.

Learn How To Play Lynyrd Skynyrd Free Bird Guitar Chords

lynyrd skynyrd free bird guitar tabPerhaps one of the biggest and most exciting rock bands of the 70s was Lynyrd Skynyrd. In general, theyíre best known for performing in the southern rock genre, and the band did an incredible job of bringing this fun and exciting style of music into the mainstream. Even these days, many modern bands have a clear influence of Lynyrd Skynyrd – which just goes to show how revolutionary their style has been in the music world.

In the 70s, the band quickly rose to international acclaim, and they were especially well known for beautiful signature tracks such as Free Bird – which is easily one of their most memorable and recognizable tunes in their catalog.

Sadly, right at the very peak of their international success, three members of the band were tragically killed in the infamous airplane crash in 1977. While several band members survived, the band was never the same again, and quickly disappeared from the public limelight. However, in 1987 the surviving members decided to get the band back together again with a new vocalist – and they briefly toured with some success.

Of course, the southern rock genre was the true home of Lynyrd Skynyrd, and many of their tracks are still aired today – such is the timeless nature of their music.

One of their most popular songs is a track called ëFree Birdí, and even though it sounds fantastic, itís a surprisingly easy tune to play once youíre familiar with the basic open chords. Essentially, the chord progression for this song goes like this: G, D, Em, F, C, and D – and these chords are played over and over for the duration of the song. Of course, to get a true feel for how to play the song, itís best to listen to the track and play along with your guitar.

In particular, youíll want to pay close attention to the strum pattern and the chord changes. Once youíve practiced for a short while, youíll soon pick up the rhythm of the song – and once you can quickly and easily change the finger positioning for these chords, youíll have no trouble at all when it comes to keeping up with the correct timing of the song.

One of the great things about this song is that itís very easy to learn, so itís long been a popular choice amongst beginners who are tired of learning to play simple folk tunes, and would prefer to play something written and performed by a legendary rock band.

In this case, Free Bird by Lynyrd Skynyrd certainly doesnít disappoint. The track was a favorite with live audiences, and the band was often known to improvise over the chord progression toward the end of the song, often resulting in breathtaking jams and guitar solos which still survive on recordings today.

The guitar solos can also be learned with relative ease, especially once youíve mastered the basic chord progression of the song. Even though the music is simple to learn, the humble and distinctive twang of Lynyrd Skynyrdís sound is something thatíll live on forever.
