Chicken Ranch closed its doors coincidentally on the eve in which the song became famous.

The song, with very little lyrics but a lot of feeling thanks to Billy Gibbons on guitar, Dusty Hill on bass and Frank Beard on drums, quickly became a Blues classic. The success of the album Tres Hombres kept them during a year and a half of tour by all the American territory being La Grange, the star theme in all the concerts.

Billy Gibbons stated that it was composed simply with variations of a single chord, the intention was to emulate the sexual and dirty environment of the brothel and astound with a notable central riff that was played by a Stratocaster guitar.

Track number eight of the album, reached position number 41 in the list Billboard Hot 100 of the United States and years later, magazine Q placed it in the 92 position of the 100 great tracks of guitar, also, Rolling Stone the rankeo In number 74 of the 100 greatest guitar songs of all time.
It is a song representative of the seventy that over the years, has been played and versioned by other artists, among them Blues Traveler, Tracy Byrs, Hank Willismd Jr, Vinnie Moore and the Mexican bands El Tri and Molotov. Among others

It has also been used to musicalize video games such as Forza Motorsport, NASCAR The Game 2011 and Guitar Hero III Legends of Rock and Guitar Hero On Tour. He has also appeared in commercials, television series and soundtracks of film productions such as Striptease, The Dukes of Hazzard, Back to the Future and Armageddon.

When the song was climbing in popularity, the scandal did not wait. Composer Bernie Besman sued the band for alleged plagiarism in the riff of their song Boogie Chillen. The court ruled in favor of ZZ Top for being the Besman song of public domain, However, Gibbons has admitted that the music of the song was indeed based on the composition of Besman.
La Grange, is therefore a song representative of the band and a rock blues classic that deserves to be heard for the ability to convey a little of the atmosphere of the Chichen Ranch with much southern feeling.
