From the album ‘The Long Run’ released in 1979. Vocals by Glen Frey give this song an understated menace that still gets audiences going nearly 40 years later.

#7 Desperado.

From the album of the same name released in 1973 this song is a ballad that can stand toe to toe with the best. Great guitar work and an understated vocal performance by Don Henley make it easy listening at its best.

#8 The Long Run.

From the album with the same name released in 1979. Although this was the last gasp of the 70’s this classic never made it into cult status like Hotel California – but it’s still a great tune. As usual Don Henley shines.

#9 Already Gone.

From ‘On the Border’ released in 1974 this song was one of the highlights that showed new member Don Felder’s great guitar skills. One of the few songs that wasn’t written by a member of the group.

#10 Life In The Fast Lane.

If there was ever a song that showed that The Eagles could move from country rock to rock proper it’s this fast paced number. Found on ‘Hotel California’ it balanced the balladic skills and storytelling ability showcased on this great album by this legendary band perfectly.
