The Top 10 Lynyrd Skynyrd Greatest Hits

lynyrd skynyrd top 10 songsWhile I didn’t grow up during the Lynyrd Skynyrd era, who isn’t familiar with this classic rock band? Did you know that the band’s original name was ‘My Backyard?’ The band was rocked by tragedy when three of the people who made the band successful were killed when their plane crashed. While the band kept going and has always been popular, you can imagine that this part of the band’s history was never forgotten. There are so many great Lynyrd Skynyrd songs, but are you ready to see what the top 10 are?

First of all, Free Bird has to be #1 on the list. This song might has well been #1 on the charts when I was growing up because it’s what we always listened to, going wild on the guitar solo. Tuesday’s Gone would be my #2, and before anyone starts breathing fire, my #3 would be Simple Man. And before anyone else gets all riled up, my #4 would be Sweet Home Alabama. After that, we can all simmer down and name the rest of the top 10 without feelings getting hurt, right?

What’s Your Name would be the next song I put on the list, and then I would go with Saturday Night Special and Call Me The Breeze. Hopefully, I have at least named your favorite Lynyrd Skynyrd song by now. What would be your next one? You have to put Gimme Three Steps in the top 10 list, and then That Smell has to be there as well. That’s nine songs, but this is a top 10 list, so there’s one more. How about Gimme Back My Bullets as the last spot on the top 10 list?

There are so many other Lynyrd Skynyrd songs, many that you might not even recognize. I don’t know all of them either. For example, I’m not sure I’m familiar with the Lynyrd Skynyrd song You Got That Right. Still, this southern rock band is always going to be part of the foundation of classic rock. Even the kids these days that like rock music grow up listening to Lynyrd Skynyrd.

Those top four songs I mentioned have been featured in movies and in just about everything you can imagine. Can you name any members of the band? I could not have, but I’m staring at one name right now, Ronnie Van Zant, who was an original member who died in the crash.
